Chemical group Asahi Kasei wants to strengthen its health devision and is planning to take over Zoll Medical. In doing so, the Japanese company wants to lessen its dependence on chemical and fibre businesses and benefit from Zoll’s strong business position in the US, as well as its technological leadership.
Zoll Medical is an American medical technology company who produces, among other things, defibrillators for use in emergency care and clinics.
The purchase is supposed to be finalized during the second quarter and will cost Asahi Kasei 93 dollars per Zoll share or a total purchase price of just over 2 billion dollars.
