CareFusion, a leading global medical technology company, has acquired the Brazilian company Intermed Equipamento Medico Hospitalar Ltda. The medical technology company in Sao Paulo specialises in the production of technologies for respiratory therapy. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Intermed develops, manufactures and markets a variety of fans and ventilators for the entire spectrum of patients, which are used in hospitals in Brazil and throughout Latin America. Brazil, the world’s sixth largest economy with the fifth largest population, experienced tremendous growth in the health sector. This was due to government investment, the growth in the middle class and an increase in employment, which provides better access to health care.
