In the US health insurance market, another acquisition has taken place. The US insurance group Aetna has strengthened its portfolio with the addition of pharmaceutical and health care company Coventry Health Care Inc., in a deal valued at $7.3bn, including debt.
Since the American health reforms led by president Barack Obama,this sector has experienced much movement and transactions. For instance, Aetna competitors United Health and Cigna have recently forged alliances with hospitals in attempts to drive down costs.
