Established physicians in medical practices, who rarely have to deal with oncological and hematological diseases (hematology: science of diseases of the blood and blood-forming organs), are now provided with medical guidelines in the physician information system. This service was initiated by the German Society for Hematology and Medical Oncology (DGHO). The first relevant information will soon be provided by the professional association, which is cooperating with the Internet portal Onkopedia – a knowledge portal on cancer diseases – for this purpose. The portal was founded by the DGHO in cooperation with the Austrian and two Swiss professional societies. In this country, the DGHO works together with Intermedix Deutschland, a subsidiary of CompuGroup Medical, to support diagnosis and therapy in medical practices and to pass on helpful knowledge from which the medical profession in private practice benefits when working with patients. According to the DGHO, physicians should be informed in the best possible way at the moment they need information, but the DGHO also wants to learn from the physicians‘ findings and their feedback in the process of information transfer and optimize it.
