The pharmaceutical wholesaler and modern pharmacy manager, AEP, is offering pharmacies an exceptional service from 1 September this year to address walk-in customers in the vicinity of the pharmacies and thus win their favor. A social media marketing package called „ZACK + DA!“ is to make this possible. With the help of so-called geotargeting, people who want a digital customer approach but do not actually need physical care in a local pharmacy are to be targeted. The introduction of electronic prescriptions is imminent.

The localized advertising by AEP is thus part of the social media marketing measures to show potential customers that a nationwide presence – with the corresponding products and discounts – is available and quick availability of goods. The marketing campaigns are selected individually for each pharmacy participating in the project and vary after six weeks.

For this purpose, there are coupon flyers for participating stationary pharmacies, video telephones with a 32-inch screen including a disinfection dispenser if required, as well as a messenger service that delivers to customers after they have sent electronic prescriptions to the pharmacy via the pharmacy’s homepage, which are then delivered. It is also possible to order other pharmacy products and hand sales items; these are then delivered directly to the customers‘ homes.

AEP does not take any transaction costs for medicines on e-prescription and products ordered online but does take a fee for participation in the marketing campaigns, which will still be provided free of charge this year. From 2022 onwards, pharmacists will be faced with costs, but they are easy to calculate. Between 0 and 49 euros will be charged thereafter. The higher the purchase volume, the lower the price. From 2,000 packages per month, participating retail pharmacies pay nothing.
