With the „Family Coach Care“, the AOK now offers a free online service for caring relatives. The program, which can be used anonymously, includes interactive exercises, useful information and video and audio files that are intended to support caring relatives in dealing with their psychological stress. According to a representative online survey, to which the AOK refers, around 26 percent of the caring relatives questioned are highly stressed; 43 percent show a medium stress level. The program shows users ways to deal with extreme feelings such as grief and fear and to develop attentiveness for their own mental state. One focus of the program is on dealing with dementia patients and accompanying palliative care patients, since the psychological strain is particularly high in these care situations, according to the survey. The offer was developed by a team of experts and under the consultation of relatives providing care.
