The Apologistics Group with the German mail-order company Apo-Discounter from Markkleeberg near Leipzig and in Duiven (Netherlands), is pursuing the goal of becoming the market leader for the (German) online pharmacy market. At the moment, Apologistics is only the third-largest mail-order company with 200 million euros in turnover and an eight percent market share.

Now the parent company Apologistics has announced that it is entering the Rx market in Germany with Apo-Discounter, in addition to the OTC mail-order business, and is pushing this strongly in order to promote company growth.

This can already be seen on the Apo-Discounter website, where the mail-order company draws attention to itself with discount campaigns and effective advertising measures. A newsletter mail service and further information on upcoming changes in prescription status are also included on the website. All the advantages of the e-prescription roll-out are described and summer discounts of four euros are offered, as the e-prescription expansion is imminent throughout Germany, now that the Berlin-Brandenburg model region has already had its turn.

Apo-Discounter, however, does not only advertise the dispatch of prescription drugs but also hand-held items, with simultaneous ordering. At the moment, however, e-prescription orders are not yet possible, so customers have to resort to printed order forms and paper prescriptions. Apo-Discounter also explains the advantages of telemedicine consultations, however, because the telemedicine provider Kry is part of the cooperation.

Apo-Discounter takes the same promotional approach as Apo.com from the Netherlands after Rx preparations have been added to the range. However, there are also differences, such as Rx bonuses, which are banned in Germany. At Apo.com, however, the customer’s prescription goes to Duiven, so that bonuses can be guaranteed for self-payers of Rx drugs and privately insured persons. Up to 30 euros discount, depending on the price of up to three medicines, is possible. The bonus is not paid out in cash, however, but is offset against future articles from orders or credited or converted into bonus points. The logistics of the parent company and the strategically well-located bases even make „same-day delivery“ possible, i.e. dispatch of the goods with the receipt by the customer on the same day.
