Three very young people, the founders of the digital language assistant for nursing documentation „voize“, are actually still students at the university. Erik Ziegler, 21 years old and the brothers Fabio and Marcel Schmidberger, both 22 years old, received money from the non-profit initiative „GesundZusammen“ as startup founders because they have contributed or will contribute to overcoming the Corona crisis with an idea and innovation. However, the three were unable to implement planned pilot projects in old people’s homes due to the virus infection, which led to the temporary halt of the young company, which was founded in February 2020. Nevertheless, all three were not inactive. In the meantime, they tested the app and developed it further. Nursing staff, who are actually involved in the further development, had to be left out for the time being because of the corona virus. But already now the documentation works excellently by freely speaking the patient’s clinical picture on the smartphone. Nursing staff simply start by entering the documentation on the mobile device. Voice input and text analysis can be carried out completely offline on the terminal device, which is particularly beneficial for patients in rural areas. All documentation entries can also be classified as harmless in terms of data protection law, as they are sent to the documentation system without any intermediate point. After the voice entry in the first step, the text analysis follows, in which the documentation case is picked up according to keywords and, for example, residents and characteristics, but also clinical picture and symptoms as in medical records are highlighted. In the third step, the „voize“ app generates a structured documentation entry using text analysis. Everything is then confirmed again by the nurse. This then leads to the complete documentation is successfully entered into the system. Automatically structured documentation entries with the help of „voize“ in the nursing documentation system have decisive advantages in the nursing area because nurses gain more time for the care of their patients in this way. Nursing documentation takes up a good third of the working time. Even at a shift change, all nursing staff benefit from the not too great digital documentation effort in order to plan nursing care at a reasonable price and to check the health of each individual home resident. The system also facilitates accounting. Digital nursing documentation will continue to be required in the future when the shortage of nursing staff will become even greater.
