While Germany is still conducting research with vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Phase III studies, China and Russia have already approved vaccines for certain population groups. However, experts criticize that the data situation is apparently not entirely clear, so that risks and side effects, but also efficacy, cannot be assessed. From now on, the Kingdom of Bahrain also wants to vaccinate employees of the local health system, because it is important to protect those who fulfill their medical duties and are in constant contact with corona patients, explains the country’s Minister of Health, Fika al-Salih, in a statement on the limited use so far. Also, the use is possible from now on and on a voluntary basis to protect against a possible Covid-19 infection. In a recent clinical study, 7,700 volunteers were tested for the vaccine of the Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinopharm. Bahrain and Abu Dhabi are pulling together in studies in which the country in the United Arab Emirates tested the Chinese vaccine together with Bahrain. Bahrain will then take over the production and distribution of Sinopharm in the country, as more than 82,000 infections have been reported nationwide. The Emir of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Raschid Al Maktum, has also already been vaccinated against corona, as he himself has explained. The World Health Organization (WHO) expects about 200 corona vaccine projects worldwide, 47 of which are already in clinical trials. Approximately twelve of them are in the final phase before they are finally approved for large-scale human use. Next year, Germany will have a specific vaccination strategy that will be adopted by the Conference of Health Ministers.
