In a strategy paper in the field of industrial health management that has just been presented, the Federation of German Industries (BDI) calls for a review and the necessary improvements of the location factors in Germany in order to prevent the outsourcing of development and production of German companies in the health sector abroad.
The BDI’s demand addresses the research and production of drugs and vaccines, but also the development and production of protective goods, as is currently the case in the Corona pandemic. Digital health technologies, which are innovative technologies of the future that drive digitization in Germany, are also incredibly important.
In these difficult times, it has become clear how important special and exemption permits are in order to make facilities available for the research, development, and production of vaccines as quickly as possible. According to the BDI, this also includes accelerated planning and approval procedures, as well as facilitation in the construction of certain types of facilities that do not require approval under the federal government’s Federal Immission Control Act.
Iris Plöger, a member of the Federation’s management board, is calling on politicians to do everything they can to make the location factors for the industrial healthcare sector more attractive and to speed up lengthy approval procedures.
