The pronova Betriebskrankenkasse, an association of company health insurance funds of BASF, Bayer, Continental, and Ford with meanwhile more than 650,000 insured persons, calls on politicians to systematically reform the health care system after the Bundestag elections. In the view of pronova BKK, but also of the Marburger Bund as well as the AOK Bundesverband, the current system is outdated and in need of structural changes to provide better care for patients and to keep the promise of quality.

Above all, pronova BKK would like to see innovative and far-reaching changes in the financing of the health system. According to the company, health insurance fund, the remuneration system needs to be revised. This includes differentiation according to levels of care and a remuneration system for so-called better care and advance costs when, for example, pandemic-related restructuring is imminent.

In addition, the health insurance fund considers the separation of service remuneration according to outpatient and inpatient health care to be sensible. Certain medically sensible treatment strategies should also be rewarded with incentives.

Furthermore, hospital planning should be reformed because all of the approximately 1,900 hospitals and clinics do not all stand for quality in the same way. A uniform definition of basic care close to home and care for patients at a high level in qualified special clinics must create clarity and can determine the actual need.

Preventive measures are also among the things that need to be fundamentally revised. The electronic patient file (ePA) must be the coordination platform of the future to connect service providers and patients better digitally, quickly, easily, and individually.
