CompuGroup Medical SE (CGM), a leading company in the e-health sector which, as a software manufacturer, offers doctor information systems and information services in the international field, will take over parts of the Health IT division of the Cerner Corporation (CERN). These are the main products in Cerner’s portfolio, which include hospital information systems (HIS) for Germany. These are „medico“ and „Soarian Integrated Care“. But also the leading HIS „Selene“ in Spain, which is used in hospitals run by Spanish public authorities, and the archive solution „Soarian Health Archive“ are among them. According to media reports, the hospital systems will go to CompuGroup for 225 million euros, which will use them to expand its portfolio, since the main focus of the company’s activities is to support the medical and organizational activities of all service providers, such as doctors, dentists, pharmacists, hospitals, laboratories and much more. 250 health care facilities in Germany currently use the „medico“ system, while in Spain there are 65 health care facilities that use „Selene“ to work safely and efficiently. The transaction will be completed around the third quarter of 2020. In the meantime, around one million users are using CompuGroup’s IT products and services in outpatient and inpatient facilities. The value of the company shares to be acquired was 74 million euros in 2019. A pre-tax profit of 13 million euros was generated in the same year.
