The German-Dutch Chamber of Commerce, or DNHK, is initiating a digital meeting of German companies in the field of e-health applications, telemedicine, and automation in the fall so that respected Dutch customers can find out about German products.

From September 22 to 24, therefore, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), an „Entrepreneur Trip: Digitization in Healthcare,“ where German companies can apply until the end of June with innovations, especially in the field of speech recognition tools, robotics, virtual reality (VR) as well as artificial intelligence (AI).

The background is that the Dutch are inferior to the Germans in these sectors, with only one in ten Dutch hospitals using relevant innovations. Germany is already one in four, although the western neighbors are tech-savvy and curious about innovation, as e-health expert Kai Feldmann from the DNHK reports.

The Dutch have a very well digitized healthcare system that is investing a lot of money in expansion. Inpatient programs and home care are supported with telemedicine funding programs in the high double-digit millions.

Nevertheless, our neighbors find it a great challenge to find the right technologies and rely above all on personal contacts with innovative German companies. In the Netherlands, private and public hospitals compete for patients to whom they want to offer the highest quality care to win and retain them over the long term. There are no public tenders like there are in Germany. Therefore, German products excel in price, reliability, and quality.

Since the Dutch have set themselves to reduce costs and increase quality, German providers‘ imaginative products fit perfectly into the concept for improved digital healthcare.
