England could soon be in a state of emergency, as the British government has imposed deadlines for unvaccinated employees in senior citizen homes and nursing homes and at the NHS.

Accordingly, nursing staff in old people’s and care homes had to have been vaccinated by the beginning of November in order not to be dismissed or to avoid having to fill vacancies, as only vaccinated staff have recently been allowed to look after residents of such facilities. 50,000 unvaccinated employees remain after that. Because the deadline for mandatory vaccination has expired, they face consequences. However, 25,000 of them, for example, have already received the first dose; some have also applied for exemptions on medical grounds.

In April 2021, the deadline will also expire for employees of the NHS health service, who face the threat of losing their jobs without providing proof. 80 to 90 percent of the staff there are fully immunized, though about 80,000 to 100,000 are not.

Health Minister Sajid Javid is calling for health workers to be more responsible. Many therapies would then have to be postponed in England, because there may soon be a shortage of even more staff. Six million NHS patients are already waiting for treatment. 3.5 percent of staff have voluntarily resigned because of the vaccination requirement or have been exempted from service for non-compliance so far.

However, in the eyes of many experts, the British government is further exacerbating the English problem. As a result, many experts are calling for an extension of the deadline, including in nursing homes and homes for the elderly, in order to circumvent the difficulties and the associated chaos. However, vaccination rates have skyrocketed from 80 to 94 percent for first-time vaccinations even after the introduction of mandatory vaccination for health workers.

11,688 people have died after being hospitalized and infected with the virus, according to the Daily Telegraph.
