The subsidiary Curalie of clinic operator Fresenius, the largest operator of 86 Helios clinics and 126 medical care centers in Germany, has acquired the Frankfurt-based Digital Health Group (DGG). The announcement came from DAX group Fresenius itself. DGG is a software developer in the telemedicine and e-health solutions sector and is therefore well suited to establish universal and open digital platforms for chronically ill people, which accompany such patients from prevention to outpatient and inpatient care to aftercare. Up to now, the DGG’s target groups have mainly been general practitioners and specialists who have used the services of telemedicine. However, this will also be the case in the coming years, because not only 150,000 insured persons are to be brought on board through the cooperation of the two companies, but also other health care companies besides medical practices are in the focus of Curalie. The Berlin-based digital health company Curalie is currently developing mainly digital offers in the rehabilitation and orthopaedics sector. By taking over the company, it is aiming primarily at chronically ill patients with diabetes and kidney disease, who can make very good use of the digital patient services such as electronic patient files, online appointments, video consultation hours, digital recordings and much more via the portal, promises Enrico Jensch, the head of operations at the Helios clinics, upon request. Fresenius also wanted to cooperate with the Canadian-based Start-up Dialogue, but the deal fell through because, among other things, German data protection guidelines and health insurance requirements did not match the Canadian telemedicine model.
