The daily newspaper „Das Handelsblatt“ recently reported that Google Health is said to have made great progress in developing the management of digital patient records. According to the report, Google is working flat out on cloud solutions to manage health data with the help of a new app to be made available to end-users.

The new Google Health app solution could be seen as a replacement for existing hardware solutions, as it is the only application that will soon be ready, including with the help of artificial intelligence (AI), to analyze data from diagnoses and therapies and, if necessary, intervene if erroneous data and diagnoses do not match treatments.

The founder and main author of the so-called Google Watch blog, Jens Minor, has provided the Handelsblatt with detailed information. According to this, Google’s plan could soon be applied in the USA. Minor also sees great potential in other country-dependent solutions, also because Google Health is considering expansion possibilities that go beyond the pure administration and AI analysis of health data. For example, other fitness platforms could be linked to Google products. Since medical practices in Germany have been obliged to fill electronic patient records (ePA) with health information since the beginning of July, Google’s ePA solution could become the key to success in this country as well.
