Munich-based Smart Reporting, a digital health start-up that develops software solutions in radiology and pathology, has closed the Series B financing round with €15 million, led by yabeo, an early-stage and lead investor. Other investors included Ann-Kristin Achleitner, Wolgang Reitzle and Rolf Dienst as entrepreneurs. Smart Reporting is supported by the Munich-based venture capitalist to generate structuring and standardization of medical documentation for better productivity, optimized quality and improved communication through effectiveness. The industry leader for structured reporting in radiology – 10,000 radiologists have now been involved since 2017 – has become an important cornerstone in precision medicine, making collected diagnostic data accessible to radiologists and enabling them to share it across disciplines. The industry service AuntMinnie Europe recently voted the young company „Best New Radiology Vendor 2020“. In 2019, Smart Reporting then entered the pathology field by developing software solutions for pathological findings for diagnostic purposes. These solutions use artificial intelligence (AI) to optimize the analysis of images and subsequent reporting. Improved medical documentation through more effective structure and standardization helps both medical staff and patients. The investment sum of 15 million euros is to be invested in the expansion of surgery, oncology and cardiology in order to promote the development of new technologies, but also to expand, as the example of the newly introduced COVID-19 software template shows. The template, i.e. the template in electronic data processing, is a so-called decision tree that helps radiologists to assess suspected cases of viral pneumonia in the corona pandemic. It gives experts insight into reference images and provides relevant clinical literature. 2000 radiologists have already recently registered for access to the free decision tree, which was developed according to internationally recognized guidelines.
