This year, the Congress for Out-of-Hospital Intensive Care and Ventilation (Kongress für außerklinische Intensivpflege und Beatmung, abbreviated KAI) will take place again in Berlin. The event date is October 7 and 8, 2021. What is new this year is that participants can attend both in presence in Berlin and online.

The agenda includes topics such as the Intensive Care and Rehabilitation Strengthening Act in Statutory Health Insurance, abbreviated GKV-IPReG, labor law requirements, remuneration according to collective wage agreements, as well as the Corona pandemic and lessons learned from the infectious event.

One day earlier, on October 6, the KAI Management Conference – formerly called the Decision-Makers‘ Conference on Out-of-Hospital Intensive Care – will kick off the exchange of information with affected patients and relatives, further training, discussions with experts and everything to do with the latest scientific findings on out-of-hospital intensive care. Politicians, representatives of health insurance funds and other service providers as well as experts will also have their say, talking about nursing home communities and cost accrual guidelines. In addition, lawyer Anja Hoffmann will report, for example, on remuneration negotiations in the context of the IPReG.

At the two-day KAI Congress Special, nurses and senior professionals will have their say, describing their everyday life in out-of-hospital intensive care. Lectures, workshops, seminars and an evening event will round out the program. One of the speakers will be wound expert Gerhard Schröder, who will begin his talk with the question „What do we learn about pressure ulcers from rocket flight?“ He will report on technical innovations and innovations in wound care for people with chronic wounds and poorly healing wounds. Also, prevention measures are the subject of his guest speaker presentation.
