To avoid the risk of infection from the SARS-CoV-2 virus, more and more people are using telemedicine services, such as online consultations. Online medical practice Zava has taken advantage of this in this country, offering treatments 365 days a year around the clock with the lifting of the ban on remote treatment in 2018 and now because of Corona.
The leading telemedicine provider in Germany has just acquired Medlanes, a physician network and digital health startup. However, the purchase price and other details were not disclosed. Zava’s founder and CEO, David Meinertz, confirmed Zava’s growth strategy with the acquisition. Contemporary healthcare with a patient-centric expansion of services has been his goal to take the next step in digital healthcare, as an important major pillar.
Medlanes was founded by Erik Stoffregen, who remains CEO, and Dr. Emil Kendziorra in 2014 and has since specialized in telemedicine treatments with home visit options, digital appointment booking and coordination.
For Zava, the acquisition of Medlanes primarily means more flexibility through various expanded telemedicine options, but also an increase in quality, effectiveness and innovation, as well as patient-centered care, independent of time and location.
Zava also already offers 35 disease-specific consultation hours for a wide range of indications, as well as an app for video and telephone consultations with doctors, which Medlanes is expanding with 200 doctors in 20 cities in Germany. The online doctor’s office also already works with electronic prescriptions after telemedicine doctor consultations, not only for medicines, but also when health app
have been prescribed.
