The city of Potsdam celebrates the 30th anniversary of German unity in a walk-in city setting. An exhibition cube in the city shows, among other things, the development of health care in the GDR, from 30 years ago to the present and beyond. Medical supply centers (MVZ), which there are for 17 years, and from the GDR police hospitals and/or Brandenburger health centers emerged, are among other things topic of the anniversary meeting, also because MVZ stood for many years in the criticism. Today MVZ is a firm component of the ambulatory supply landscape, even if still many negative generalized judgements over co-operation structures like these are fallen. MVZ secure the supplying quality and stand for patient security in the German ambulatory health system. Critics see however a strong economic influence of different investors, who want to strike capital only from the co-operation structures. The German Federal Association of Medical Care Centers – Health Centers – Integrated Care e.V., (BMVZ), in-person Dr.med. Peter Velling, chairman of the association since 2017, believes that a variety of models and structures, as well as a large variety of providers, help to ensure that the quality of care can be well controlled and guaranteed, even if there are still accusations of returns. After all, the BMVZ stands for cooperative outpatient care in Germany for the benefit of patients, as well as for future-oriented and modern healthcare.
