The pandemic has put the healthcare system to the test over the past 18 months and has had a lasting impact on all market participants: payers, service providers, manufacturers and also on all of us, as (potential) patients. Accordingly, the topic of Corona and its consequences on individual market players and the market is logically also the focus of the current S7 Trend Report. In addition to all the negative effects of Corona – first and foremost the personal fates – which are currently being addressed and discussed in many places, „the pandemic“ – as an FAZ article predicted in June 2020 – „could turn out to be a turbo for reforms“. It has had a lasting impact, above all, on digitization in the healthcare sector, and there are many positive aspects associated with it. This is shown by the topics of electronic patient files and e-prescription – a brief outline of the current status and potential is shown in the report – but also telemedicine and AI.
