In Norway, 23 deaths have been recorded so far following the administration of Corona vaccines. However, Norwegian health authorities consider the number of incidents „not alarming,“ although relatively many elderly people have died following vaccination. Underlying and pre-existing conditions, as well as age, appear to be the reason why affected individuals have died in „coincidental association with vaccination.“ Nevertheless, they are currently reviewing whether vaccinations of this type make sense at all for people who are old, frail, and have severe pre-existing conditions. For young and healthy people, vaccination recommendations continue to apply in any case.
For Germany, the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI) is examining the connection of the deaths in this country as well with strong vaccination reactions of an unintentional nature – ten in number.
The deaths occurred 2.5 hours to a few days after vaccination. One patient died of pulmonary embolism with circulatory failure. All of those affected were very old, frail, and had serious preexisting conditions such as carcinoma and renal insufficiency, so this was „probably the cause of death,“ as experts at PEI believe. This is because despite mild side effects such as headache, pain at the injection site, aching limbs, vaccines against Covid-19 can cause serious harm resulting in death. The health status, concluded various health authorities, must be given special attention.
According to information from the PEI, there are new reports of adverse reactions every week. Most recently, 51 suspected cases with serious side effects were reported; in this category, this corresponds to 0.08 suspected cases per 1,000 vaccinated persons.
Therefore, German health authorities speak of „events within the scope“.
