Uncertainty about the further course of the Covid-19 pandemic remains high. In a recently published video press briefing from the Science Media Center Germany, Professor Dr. Mirjam Kretzschmar from the University of Utrecht emphasized that the opening of the course must now be closely monitored. The role of training in the development of case numbers was not yet clearly clarified. According to Professor Dr. Rafael Mikolajczyk from the University of Halle-Wittenberg, the effects of aerosol and the importance of immunity are similar. While at the beginning of the pandemic it was assumed that patients with the survived disease were immunized, many questions about the duration of immunization and transmission without disease remained unanswered. According to Mikolajczyk, however, such questions need to be included in further modelling attempts, such as the much-cited „second wave“. In principle, detailed modelling experiments are difficult because necessary factors from epidemiological studies are not yet available.
