Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn plans to amend the law to strengthen local pharmacies (VOASG) to avoid bottlenecks with parenteral drugs. In the future, it should be possible to produce and dispense different pharmacies among themselves, even between hospital and on-site pharmacies. In contrast to the previous regulation, this will not only apply to ready-to-use cytostatic drugs, i.e. drugs to inhibit cancer cells but also to individually produced drugs for parenteral nutrition. In the reasoning of the federal states, regional supply bottlenecks are the reason for the planned change in the law.
The Working Group for Parenteral Preparation (Arge Parezu), on the other hand, sees no need for action, since existing supply structures are endangered by the change in the law. Besides according to workgroup Parezu an intermediate trade is to be minimized regarding the editions for medicament security. Therefore, the consortium proposes to limit the alternative supply applications according to § 11 para. 3 ApoG only in the case of a local supply bottleneck. The responsible chamber of pharmacists should be responsible for identifying such a bottleneck.
