The Scientific Advisory Board for Digital Transformation of the “AOK Nordost” suggests that a so-called „open data“ portal be conceived and implemented in a timely manner, according to a position paper by the eight experts on digitization. The independent committee is thinking of care-relevant factual data of the German healthcare system with an improvement of care planning and capacity control. One example is the number of intensive care beds in the Corona pandemic, which could be viewed free of charge and machine-readable „at the push of a button“. Thereafter, a daily updated data infrastructure with public data is planned. All service providers could contribute to the collection of these statistics, according to the eight-member panel of three women and five men, including spokeswoman Dipl.-Pol. Inga Bergen. The Scientific Advisory Board was founded as recently as November 2016 to provide independent support to the AOK National Association on issues relating to digital transformation.

The position paper is an impetus for necessary debates and the portal also promotes „fact- and evidence-based discussion and opinion-forming“. Such a portal, governed by open data laws, has long existed in government. The independent advisory board is able to refute the fear that data protection conformity might not be given. The statistics on equipment, capacities and standards in therapy do not contain any personal data, only factual data.
