Since there are currently supply bottlenecks of morphine-containing finished drugs, the standard reference work in the pharmacy, DAC/NRF, points out that pharmacies must help out with self-made prescriptions in order to guarantee the morphine administration in clinics and in outpatient palliative care. The German Drug Codex/New Prescription Form, among other things, facilitates the quality-assured production of prescription drugs and the testing of all starting materials for manufacturing pharmacy staff such as pharmacists and PTAs. With the help of the morphine hydrochloride prescription substance, which is currently still available and not affected by bottlenecks, pharmaceutical personnel can become active in their own production by simplifying the formulations. In the meantime, three different individual prescription can be found in the online prescription finder. All three have been designed for emergency supply, two of them in case gel formers and other excipients for higher viscosity in the prescription „Viscous morphine hydrochloride solution 20mg/ml (NRF 2.4; modified)“ are not in stock and cannot be procured quickly. The other two formulations with morphine hydrochloride as the active substance contain the same active substance in the same dosage, but the excipients are different. On the one hand, the solution is of aqueous consistency and free of sugar and aroma, on the other hand, it contains sugar and is viscous (viscous). All three applications are highly concentrated and small in volume in relation to the dosage of the salt of morphine, so that smaller amounts have to be taken.
