The biotechnology company Centogene is organising an event to mark International Rare Disease Day at the eWerk in Berlin on 29 February 2020. At the same time, parallel events initiated by the Rostock-based biotech company will take place in Lahore, a city in Pakistan, and Mexico City, in order to bring together patients, scientists, patient organisations and cultural workers for an exchange of ideas. At the „Rare Disease Day“, among others, doctors and affected people will have their say on how to deal with the diseases and their daily challenges, since 350 million people around the world suffer from rare genetic diseases that Centogene, as a biotech company, diagnoses. These diseases are not as rare as one might think, explains the founder and CEO of the globally renowned company, Professor Dr. Arndt Rolfs. The complexity of what he believes to be not „rare“ but „exquisite“ diseases must be made tangible at the event. For this reason, not only researchers and biotech experts will provide insights into innovative therapeutic concepts. The event is also interspersed with a film and musical concept, which sensitively underscores the creative and artistic aspects of the topic „rare diseases“ with emotions and makes them tangible. Further events will follow in 2021. For further information: www.rdd2020.eu.
