All pharmacies throughout Germany are required by law to connect to the telematics infrastructure in order to be able to communicate via a common network in the healthcare system. For this purpose, pharmacies need secure access, a so-called connector, for example, to protect themselves from intruders in the system. However, this can be quite expensive for the pharmacies because the installation, operation, maintenance, updates and also the secure storage of individual data must be financed. However, all this can be made more cost-efficient, easier and safer if an alternative certified by gematik replaces the pharmacy’s own TI connectors. The company RED Medical has these connectors, which are cheaper for pharmacies and also for doctors‘ surgeries, which are located in their computer centres and are brought up to date by administrators. Misconfigurations are thus also excluded. A highly secure firewall protects the pharmacies from access by third parties. The RED Medical system is also included in the gematik approval lists. For the pharmacist who networks his pharmacy via this access provider, there is no trouble at all. Moreover, the whole thing is also very attractive in terms of price, as other system houses charge up to 800 euros more for their services. Moreover, there are no questions about compatibility with existing merchandise management systems in pharmacies, as all interfaces and components used by the company have also been certified by gematik and are therefore compatible.
