The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research , BMBF for short, is funding the University Medical Center of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (Saale) with 1.2 million euros to provide support for caregivers in the future.

A so-called innovation lab for digitized care provision is to be ready as early as next year to research and develop digitally-assisted products, forms of therapy and treatment, and services for caregivers and family caregivers.

Robots and body scaffolds are being planned for the innovation lab at the Dorothea Erxleben Learning Center in Halle, Germany, and will be purchased to relieve nursing staff of their workload. Furthermore, 3D printers and transport drones are also planned from the BMBF’s money, as well as technologies and sensors that can be worn close to the body and provide information about the wearer’s health data.
