The Swedish health authority has recently been planning the rapid introduction of a vaccination passport, which is to be used quickly and easily as an entry certificate for Corona vaccinations when traveling. The digital vaccination certificate, for example for smartphones, will also serve as proof at cultural and sporting events. The government in Sweden plans to have the digital infrastructure in place by June 1 of this year, at which time it would already be available for use as proof. Swedish authorities are also recommending the introduction of such a digital vaccination card for other countries. To this end, experts from the Swedish health authority are working together with experts from the World Health Organization (WHO). Similar plans are underway at the EU level. Scandinavian neighbor Denmark sees the need for proof of COVID-19 vaccination similarly and wants to prioritize business travelers in particular so that vaccination cards help with business travel. The „extra passport“ would be offered in a smartphone-friendly way.
