This year’s Health Visionary Award from the University of Witten-Herdecke went to a startup that uses an innovative phototherapy and digital solution to enable sufferers of chronic diseases to receive treatment in their own homes.

With its imaginative concept, the startup Skinuvita (www.skinuvita.de) was able to convince the chair’s jury – organized and moderated by students – and received 5,000 euros in prize money. The concept impressed its problem definition, the digitalization behind their business model and with sustainability aspects. The prize money of 10,000 euros, which is also divided among the second and third place winners, is donated by the sponsoring group of the University of Witten-Herdecke and is under the patronage of Minister Prof. Andreas Pinkwart.

The startup Tinus won second place with a technology that helps tinnitus sufferers fall asleep. The technology, for which a patent has been filed, uses a pillow to transmit sounds and music as an aid to falling asleep via vibration and body contact (www.tinus.one).

Third place went to Medipee GmbH, a medical technology manufacturer from Moers in North Rhine-Westphalia, which can digitally evaluate urine and urine analyses at any location (www.medipee.com).

All three winners also have the opportunity to take part in another major competition, „ATLAS – Digitale Gesundheitswirtschaft“ („ATLAS – Digital Health Industry“), where they will receive a further prize.
