The British telemedicine provider Zava, formerly DrEd, wants to open up the SHI market with online consultation hours via its own telemedicine app. Zava is a competitor of the Munich-based company Teleclinic and the Swedish company Kry. However, the development of the new concept via the smartphone app is only just beginning. Teleclinic is already several steps ahead in this respect, as the competitor can already bill online consultation hours for SHI insurants. However, the relaunch of the Zava app for mobile phones is planned to be „indication-open“, which means that, unlike on the Zava website, not only can certain clinical pictures be discussed with doctors, but doctors from all disciplines will be available for assessment between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. during the week and between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at weekends. Doctors are still very hesitant in some cases, however, because they receive low fees, as the prices for patients of Zava are currently based on the Gebührenordnung für Ärzte (GOÄ), the fee schedule for doctors. Doctors currently only receive 12 Euros per consultation hour. Patients have three options for the prescription of drugs through Zava. Either e-prescriptions are sent to pharmacies using the software of the cooperation partner Noventi or the electronic prescription is sent to a mail-order pharmacy. The third option is for patients to receive a traditional paper prescription and go to the pharmacy of their choice. In the past, Zava has often been subject to severe criticism because follow-up prescriptions via the website of the British online medical practice were only possible after a questionnaire had been filled in. However, Zava does not use this method for app consultations, as they have recently been planned.
