Export of German medical technology products has increased considerably in 2011.
The German Federal Statiscal Office (Destatis) in Wiesbaden announced that 205,000 cardiac pacemakers amounting to EUR 353m were exported – an increase of 23%. In 2010, 167,000 cardiac pacemakers amounting to EUR 317m were exported. Principal customers were the United States (30,000), followed by Brazil (19,600) and Poland (18,200).
Export value of artificial kidneys increased by 16% amounting to EUR 524m in 2011 according to Destatis. Principal customers were China (EUR 64m) and the United States (EUR 57m).
