The service provider arvato Healthcare has acquired the patient care program „BIGmedcoach“ of health insurers BIG Direkt, previously conducted by Medco International. The aim of the cooperation is to strengthen the compliance of patients.
The Bertelsmann subsidiary provides a team of health care professionals available to support those insured by BIG who have diabetes, cardiovascular or lung disease or multiple sclerosis, to honour their drug therapy and improve their quality of life.
Commentary: With the acquisition of the patient health insurance program, the Dortmund fund expands in the area of outsourcing service provision. Previously arvato Healthcare had a special appointment service that facilitates the reconciliation of (specialist) doctor’s appointments, supported by BIG. arvato Healthcare now provides patient-relationship management programs for health insurance and, in this way, has developed itself a business model through which to earn money with health insurance.
