In connection with the future Patients‘ Rights Law, Barmer GEK is demanding set criteria to ensure dependable patient information. The health fund expects the federal government to improve the transfer of evidence-based patient information to the people concerned.
"Information which is scientifically-based and understandable increases the health competence of the people in question, so they can be involved by making an informed and independent decision about their own medical treatment", says Ulrike Hauffe, chairperson of the Committee for Treatment and Contracts at Barmer.
A discharge report, for instance, might be a possible tool in the treatment process.
