The BIG direkt health fund, who are currently in direct talks with pronova BKK over a possible merger in 2013, has now extended its insurance services to osteopathy.
The health insurance fund is now responsible for 80% of the costs for this manual therapy, up to a maximum of EUR 400 per year. Until now, the service was not a compulsory element of provision within the gesetzlichen Krankenkassen (GKV).
The prerequisite is that the therapist can prove his skills: he must be a member of a professional association of osteopaths, or submit proof of adequate training in alternative healing methods.
