The British homecare nursing service Amcare – a subsidiary of Convatec – has strengthened its position with the purchase of the homecare nursing service SureCalm Healthcare. SureCalm Healthcare has been specializing in the domestic service provision of devices available on prescription for stoma care and incontinence nursing care.
Convatec considers the company to be ideally complementing its subsidiary company, which has been active for almost 20 years.
Commentary: In the UK, Convatec is strengthening its position in the area of service provision. The interaction between manufacturer and service provider is a recurring theme, because decreasing reimbursement prices are prompting manufacturers to consider developing their direct business. The open-ended question now is which service provider matches which manufacturer and how will they integrate without problems?
