Following the sale of pharmacy DocMorris, the Swiss pharmaceutical wholesalers Zur Rose plans to continue the contracts of the remaining franchisees as planned. The 150 on-site pharmacies will keep the name and logo to the end of their contract period.

Around 500 pharmacies were wanted by the former Celesio CEO Oesterle in 2011. The number of DocMorris pharmacies stagnated recently at around 150, and is falling.

Commentary: These pharmacies are not classical chain stores, but by branding them they wanted to benefit from the strong brand awareness. Ultimately, agreements had to be reached between the partners and the pharmacy brand DocMorris, which in the past repeatedly led to disputes: on-site pharmacy DocMorris could not compete with the prescription bonus system of Versandspotheke. In addition, as part of a promotion for example, mail-order pharmacies such as Rewe distributed brochures, flyers and 5 Euro vouchers, which the customer received for prescription discounts in the stores. Zur Rose chief Walter Oberhänsli announced meanwhile that they do not want to run any franchise concept under the DocMorris brand.
