This week, DocMorris – belonging to Swiss wholesalers Zur Rose – has announced its bonus model. Customers will receive a discount in the future, of only one Euro for each prescription. Further, customers can get up to a 15 Euro bonus if they participate in a drug check. The reason is that foreign mail order pharmacies have to change their bonus schemes as discounts are prohibited on prescriptions.
The ABDA is examining whether premiums instead of bonuses are valid and whether it is a circumvention of the rebate ban. The Dutch mail order pharmacy Postpills has always used premium compensation if customers fill out a questionnaire. The reference value for the prescription is still evident.
