The biggest British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has earned less than a year ago in the third quarter because of a decline in sales in Europe and the U.S..

The bottom line profit fell to GBP 1.37 billion (EUR 1.7 billion) last year to GBP 1.12 billion. From July to September, sales fell by eight percent to GBP 6.5 billion.

In Europe, the proceeds fell as well as in the U.S. and Japan. In addition to the competition from cheaper generics, health reforms in various countries would have diminished sales and profits.
