KRY, Europe’s market-leading digital health start-up company, has been offering digital doctor visits in Scandinavia, France, Great Britain and also Germany since 2015 with more than 700 doctors and 1.4 million consultations. It all started in Sweden about five years ago. Medical expertise combined with the latest digital technologies makes the company so successful and unique that the Ontario Teachers’Pension Plan, Ontario Teachers, Canada’s largest professional pension plan, is investing 140 million euros in KRY. The e-health start-up will then have existing investors such as Index Ventures, Creandum, and Accel, and the new one to support KRY’s plans, as KRY’s activity and reach expansion by expanding medical offerings and growth plans through new market development are high on the agenda. KRY aims to reach millions of people to expand access to digital healthcare services. The CEO and founder of KRY, Johannes Schildt and his team, believe in the great potential of digital technologies and their expansion in the area of medical consultations and diagnoses via video consultation, also because local doctors are often overburdened. The healthcare market is thus becoming considerably more flexible, says Schildt. The funds will also be used to expand the existing market in Sweden, Norway, France, Great Britain, and Germany in terms of innovation and further development of the product range. The TIP team (TIP: Teachers‘ Innovation Platform) of Canada’s largest bond fund will lead the capital raising of the Series C financing, in which existing investors will also participate. Senior Managing Director of TIP from Ontario Teachers‘, Olivia Steedman, is excited about the collaboration to support KRY’s growth ambitions and to help ease the burden on healthcare systems through digital doctor visits.
